Common Dental Problems and Solutions
Many problems may be solved temporarily until a repair appointment can be scheduled. Problems need not delay your treatment.
Loose band or bracket: Band or bracket still attached to the wire - leave in place. If uncomfortable, place wax on it. If the bracket is completely out, wrap it in a tissue.
Loose wire: Place back with tweezers. If impossible, clip the wire with nail clippers behind the last tooth securely fastened. If uncomfortable, place wax on it.
Poking wire: Push down with the end of a spoon or eraser. If impossible, place wax on it.
Lost tiewire or elastic tie soreness: Notify us at the next appointment.
Soreness: Warm salt water rinses and/or Tylenol®, or Ibuprofen.
Headgear does not fit: Not wearing as prescribed? If the face bow is bent, call the office to schedule a check.
Loose appliance: Sticking or poking - place wax on it.
